Well, we made it through September and are almost a month into the school year. Can you believe it? We are wrapping up the third week of school…and so far…so good. I’ve enjoyed getting to know each one of you and look forward to continuing to work with you guys all year.

So far I’ve loved your energy, excitement, and honesty. Keep it coming!

Happy Monday! Today was another good one. You guys have been working hard and participating in class. I love it! Also, thanks for bringing in your independent reading books so that I can write down the titles.

Tonight is your homework is to READ your independent reading book for AT LEAST 20 minutes and write a short summary (least half a page) about what you read. That’s it!

I will be collecting your reading summaries or journals at the end of the week.

Hey Majestics!

Another awesome day today. It was great getting to hear all of the interesting things about you in your partner interviews. I can’t wait to continue to get to know you guys as the year goes on. We are going to have so much fun together (and learn A LOT!).

As you already noticed, we’ll be doing a lot of work in pairs and groups, so get ready to move around and work with different people. From the looks of it, you guys are more than able to work together (and do good work), so I’m looking forward to what’s to come.

Tonight’s homework (and every night’s homework, unless we have a writing assignment) is to read. You need to pick an independent book to read BY FRIDAY, Sept. 17th. Bring it to class so I can write down the name of the book and you can get cracking. If you need a book, feel free to check one out from me (I just got some GREAT ones in) or hit your local library.

Welcome to the second semester! I am excited at the fresh start this offers all of us. As I mentioned today, each of you has an A & I hope you work hard to keep it!

Here is the homework for tonight

Per. 1/2

*Vocabulary Four Square

All Periods 

*Write 2 to 3 paragraphs on your goals for the semester.  Please incorporate the following questions into  your response:

• What do you plan to accomplish this semester? What, if anything, do you need to improve on from last semester?

*Whew* We have made it through the first part of the year! Although I want you all to enjoy your winter break and get plenty of rest, you still have work to do. Please have your assignments completed by your return on MONDAY, JAN. 7th in order to receive credit for your work.

Periods 1-4: English

Your assginment is to read a book of at least 75 pages and complete a book rerpot on it. Please use the book report form I handed out in class. If you’ve lost your book report form, you can print one out here (Book Report Form click the link). This project is worth 35 points!

Period 5: Creative Writing

Over the break you will complete the 1st draft of your fictional narratives. If at all possible, you should type this draft. If you are unable to type it, you should write it neatly. Bring your rough drafts on Monday, Jan. 7th so I can read through it and give you comments. Also, you will be sharing your rough drafts with the class that week so that your peers can give you a helpful critique of your story.
